This week is VOLUNTEERS' WEEK celebrating volunteers and the work they do for their community across the country.
Each year over 100 volunteers help us organise and run Village Green and Village Green Next Generation. Metal has worked with over 900 volunteers since Village Green started. The youngest has been fourteen and our oldest is seventy-four – you are never too old or to young to get involved.
Without them, these events would not be able to happen. Come and join the crew, who come back year after year, to learn new skills and meet new friends. APPLY HERE.
Here is a quick interview we did with one of our volunteers, HARRY CARNABY:
Why did you volunteer at Village Green?
I volunteered at Village Green 3 years ago when I started College. I have always had a passion for music and live events and thought that volunteering on a music festival would be an amazing opportunity and it sure was when last year I was Senior Production Manager and in charge of all technician aspects for 4 stages. I also loved working with Sean, even though he is so high up in the festival he still had the time to talk to me and my team and give us advice along the way.
What was good about working at the Festival, did you learn any new skills?
The best thing about working at the festival is the team of people you work with. When I first started it was obviously very nerve racking as you don't know what to expect but after my second year I found it very thrilling and great fun! I learnt many skills from the festival including how to manage a team, logistics and mainly event management.
Would you recommend festival volunteering to others?
I would always recommend volunteering at Village Green and in fact I have sent the link to sign up to a few people already to get involved as I believe this is a great way for someone to start their career. Village Green has also led onto me becoming an Event Production Manager for many events and I would like to thank everyone at Metal for the opportunities that you have given me.
