The Black Cat Dj collective is a rollin’ grown’ ever-changin’ group of Soul Brothers and Sisters who share a passion and love for a wide gamut of musical styles. Rhythm & Blues, Northern Soul, Latin Boogaloo, Ska and other good time damn right intoxicating genres are regular features in the Black Cat Dj’s record box.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, these Dj’s are 100% vinyl, the real deal ready willing and able to channel to you the music as it was originally meant to be heard. Some say listening to the Black Cat Dj’s is like a musical mystery tour, you might know the tunes, you might not …it doesn’t matter let the music take you on a journey…

Dean Chalkley: Original founding member of the collective, a well known photographer as well as a DJ. He has played at numbers festivals, events and curated and presented a multitude of club nights in the UK and overseas. Dean is keen record collected constantly searching for new and exciting music, even if it is from decades ago. He is also very proud of the fact that he comes from Essex.

Neil Barker: Long time member of the Black Cat Dj’s, Neil Hails from Woking in Surrey, Neil visited Southend Seafront back in 1979 on a bank holiday a very Mod moment. He has Dj’d and toured with Paul Weller, frequently DJ’d at Set The Tone and Studio 45 at the Social in London as well as many other clubs. Neil DJ’d at Dean’s club night Shake! at the Boogaloo and that is where their alliance began.

Sean ‘Originanites’ Moriarty: The newest member of the collective, Sean lives in Southend and has been an avid record collector for many years. He is known for his amazing Ska and Reggae collection but when he gets his Black Cat swagger on he plays right across the board, but of course don’t be surprised if there are at least one or two large slices of Reggae featured in his selection. Over the years Sean has DJ’d in support of Misty Roots and played at many club nights in the area as well as guest spots in London.
