Railing Against The Machine

In the great and long tradition of art, activism and protest, while others build walls to divide, we want to invite the artists of Southend to build an art wall to unite – filling the railings of the games court in Chalkwell Park.

This is an opportunity to exhibit (and sell if you’d like) up to three pieces of artwork as part of the wider Art Car Boot Rally area. The work can be existing work, new work made especially, text based, painting, photography, drawing, on vinyl, canvas, framed etc....

No car? Then this is a way for you to still take part. No selection, anyone can reserve a space..

Artwork submission criteria:-

  • must be no larger than 1.5m x 1.5m
  • must be family friendly content and reasonably weather-proof (we will cover with tarpaulin if it rains)
  • o needs to be put up using cable ties, on Sat 8 July between 8am – 10am and taken down Sat 8 July between 8pm – 10pm
  • work is the responsibility of individual artists, though we will have an invigilator across the day to answer sales queries.

To reserve a space at the Railing Against the Machine is easy. Just email
